Deficiency of is quite rare, as there are so many common, easily accessible foods that contain this very useful nutrient.
General symptoms of betacarotene deficiency include:
- Cataracts
- Increased infections (flu and colds)
- Increased LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels
- Increased risk of gastritis
- Probable increased susceptibility to cancer
