Minerals are just as necessary to human life as vitamins. Minerals are essential nutrients required to assist in the maintenance and well-being of our bodies and health. They come in two forms, essential minerals and trace minerals.

Essential minerals are those which occur naturally in the body in large to small amounts and are necessary for various functions in the body and form a vital part of our bodies. Essential minerals perform many vital bodily functions and processes.

The two most abundant minerals in the body are: calcium and phosphorus. Calcium is found in the teeth and bones, while phosphorus is found in the teeth, bones and muscles.

Trace minerals also occur in the body, but in very minute amounts and generally would be toxic in large quantities. Yet they are still very vital to human health for the various functions they perform.

Mineral supplements can be sometimes required when your body's health is weakened, or when certain factors in your health or your life make you deficient in certain minerals.
