Vaccinations are important for babies and toddlers as they provide a passive form of immunisation (much in the same way that mother's milk provides it) to prevent them catching many highly contagious and serious health conditions.

Immunisation is a safe and effective way to protect children against many often serious childhood diseases, as babies' immune system is not yet equipped to handle and fight off viruses and bacteria.

The Australian Childhood Immunisation Regester (ACIR) records the vaccinations of all babies and young children in Australia. The health provider who gives the immunisation shots to the child will provide the information of shots given to the ACIR, who will then remind you when the next immunisation shot is required.

This part of the site looks at every aspect of babies, toddlers and vaccinations and immunisation.
